Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;
In 2006 work began on Ocean Tower in South Padre Island, Texas. The project was to be a 31-story luxury apartment building with ocean views. It went up relatively fast until 2009 when…the building was demolished with a controlled explosion! It had begun to lean and it was then discovered that it suffered from a faulty foundation. The builders had to admit the problem and deal with it.
God laid a foundation and we are invited to build our lives upon it. That foundation is Jesus Christ. He is the Cornerstone. When we build our lives upon Him we can know that the foundation is secure.
A solid foundation on a building will never guarantee that there won’t be storms. How could it? It doesn’t eliminate the possibility of wind. It will just hold the building steady through all of it.
Likewise, building your life on Jesus doesn’t mean you won’t face difficulty. It doesn’t mean there won’t be days where you feel like you’re almost blown off your feet. But He will not be shaken and we can hold onto Him! Even if we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we need not fear crumbling, for He is with us.
If you have been building on some other foundation, it’s time to just admit the problem and deal with it. In fact, Jesus has been waiting for you to realize that! He’ll help you pick up the pieces and start over better!
Blessings,
Pastor Russ
